Prior Art Documentation Librarian Services LLC (PADLS) provides expert, sworn opinions about the authenticity of documents of all sorts and about when these documents were available to the public. We establish the authenticity and public availability of documents by drawing on our expert knowledge of academic research libraries.
PROJECTS
A client, typically a law firm, will provide PADLS citations for, or other information about the documents that must be considered. We offer no opinions about documents as prior art; rather we authenticate documents of concern to our clients and establish when they were publicly available, drawing upon our expert knowledge of research and academic library processes and practices.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All work is managed in strictest confidence.
PADLS verifies there will be no conflict of interest in accepting work from a client.

ABOUT US
Prior Art Documentation Librarian Services (PADLS), LLC, combines the expertise and experience of reference librarians and a research library administrator. Dr. James L. Mullins verifies all of the work of the company and signs the company's formal declarations. PADLS can also provide a bibliographic report that is not sworn.
James L. Mullins, PhD
Founder and Principal
Dr. James L. Mullins has over 44 years of academic research library experience beginning initially as a cataloger and as a manager of the "behind the scenes" operations of an academic library before becoming an administrator. His administrative library roles have included Indiana University, Villanova University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Purdue University. In 2018, after 14 years as Dean of Libraries and Esther Ellis Norton Professor of Library Science at Purdue University, he retired, retaining the title of Dean Emeritus and Norton Professor Emeritus. He holds BA and MALS degrees from the University of Iowa and a PhD from Indiana University.
